Welcombe Coastal Barn now has an official name plate - a lovely slate roof tile hand painted by a friend and ending the period between opening the barn for self-catering holidays unscripted and a fixture on the entrance gate announcing that you have arrived!

News recently in:  The second BUDE FOR FOOD FESTIVAL takes place between 18th-20th September 2015.  Although food from the artisan producers of the area is the centre piece of the Festival it will also include a restaurant trail, music showcase of some of Cornwall's best musicians, a comedy night when global street food will be highlighted and cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend.  It was the newest and most sensational event of the year in 2014 and is spearheading an image changing revolution for the town itself.

Visiting Docton Mill, Gardens and Tea Room yesterday was a wonderful note-to-self to visit at least once a season to experience the delights of this hidden treasure in North Devon.

Real progress is being made in the mixed border with the planting of climbing and Old English roses, box topiary, herbaceous perennials including geraniums, peonies and grey leaved plants, all in the colour spectrum of deep reds, pinks and white.

Whilst we mere humans spend much of our lives attempting to create something resembling artistry, the truth is that when we take the time to stop and look, nature's own canvas is there in front of us in all its breathtaking glory showcasing the full palette of artist's colour. Never more so than on the cliff tops and in the woodland valleys of North Devon and Cornwall.
