BUDE TIDAL SEA POOL VOTED No. 1 WINTER WILD SWIM

Bude tidal sea pool given No. 1 status for “Britain’s best spots for a wild winter swim” in Observer Travel section recently.

The rough waves and strong tides of the Atlantic can be daunting for even the strongest swimmer. This pool - part natural, part carved into the rock - offers a safe place to enjoy the chilly Cornish seas.

Budes’s Sea Pool was created in the 1930s, and is now well looked after by the Friends Group. Out of season wild swimmers can venture safely into the Atlantic at low tide and take a dip in the Cornish briny.

Plenty of great places to eat in Bude to keep warm afterwards - the exceptional Beach Hotel for a memorable lunch at ridiculously low prices; The Olive Tree for really good food and Temple for modern cooking with true flair and the most authentic local ingredients.

And, then return to your holiday hideaway here at Welcombe Coastal Barn, light the wood burner and cosy up for the evening with candles, wine and good ‘noir’ tele or select a film from the drawer and load up the DVD player and chill….
