CLOVELLY HERRING FESTIVAL: Centuries of tradition honoured with a great day out in November

Guests went to the Clovelly Herring Festival yesterday and I went too.

It was a great event with an exhibition of the history of Clovelly's Herring Fishing industry from the 18th century to the present day.

Lots of stalls along the harbour wall taken by local food and drink producers; The Devon Wildlife Trust; Lifeboat Association and makers of crafts.

And, fresh herrings and crab on sale too.

Clovelly is unique and the crowds enjoyed music from a live band; stilt walkers dressed as octopuses; local microbrewery beers and good food. The stargazy pie completed the honouring of long tradition.

And, after days and days of rain, the sun shone! Marvellous.
